How to replace negative feelings or emotions



The way the nervous system works (base on prevailing theories) is that you don’t have an emotion first when a situation arises, you have a body feeling.


So what happens is, a situation happens, your body generates a feeling, then your unconscious mind looks at the context in which that’s happening and it attaches a context of the feeling and it looks for other times when that was true and then it assigns a label to it based on to the feeling you having. However in actuality that feeling is completely independent of everything your brain is assigned to it.


So when you faced a situation were you have a certain body feeling, and all you do is stop and ask yourself ‘What else could that feeling be/mean?’ So what’s happening, you strategically disconnect the feelings from all these associations your neurology wanted to attach to it and now you can attach to something else


For example, you are in a situation where you feel anxious or nervous, what you do is, you chunk it down to the actual sensations (were your heart beating fast or your breath feels a little bit clammy)an ask yourself, ‘But what else could this be besides anxiety’, Your brain is gonna say ‘well could be excitement, could be anticipation, could be joy’ and all of sudden you have more options to choose because you disconnected the feeling- in such a way that you can manipulated it- from the context which brain wanted to automatically connect a label to
