How did i replaced a bad habit

Habits are very important, because 95% of what we do is based on habits. Good habits are hard to form but easily to live with and bad habits are easy to form but hard to live with. I think the key to develop a habit it called persistent.

First of all i made a decision that i have to develop a new good habit just to start discipline my self and to prove that if i can focus on something, i can make it happen. So i start by making a mental picture of my self behaving with this habit as though i already had. My bad habit was that i was eating too much. So one day i started to make a habit using a smaller plate, eating only enough to take out the edge off my appetite and then stop it and putting it away. By the way the most interesting about losing weight, is if the food is not there, your appetite disappears. Its only when the food it is in front of you. So when you have it taken away, soon as your appetite has been curbed, -i call it appetite killer, sometimes you can do it with a handful of nuts, it takes the edge off your appetite- soon it get to the point were you don’t need to put it in front of you and slowly you see results. I practice that habit every single day. So i decided to do it and i start for 21 days, 7 days a week. And if i failed, i had to start the 21 days all over again from the beginning. Persisting is the key here, after a certain point it becomes easier and easier.

So i asked my self, saying for example ‘what would be the greatest habits for me to have?’ Some examples: stop procrastinating, get start on my major tasks, eating certain foods or not eating sugar or sweets, reading 1 hour a book a day etc. So i made a list of the habits and asked myself which one of these habits would help me the most? So i just pick one habit, and one habit at a time only.

Now think about it, if it takes 21 days or so to develop a habit of medium complexity and i was about to develop one habit a month for 12 months, at the end of 12 months i will have 12 new habits and that thought really encouraged me even more not to start but to finish the one that i started to develop.

People keep saying ‘ i could not do this, i could not do that’, but think about it, what happens if you join the army or the navy or the marines and you through bootcamp, basic training for 6 or 12 months? They drill you and grill you and train you in new habits so by the end of 6 or 12 months you have a whole series of habits. Within a few months you are a different person by simply repetition 7 days/week

Put your self to your own bootcamp. Find one habit that would help you the most

Good Luck
